, cbs news, washington. >>> again, if a deal is not reached tonight, there is one thing you need to be prepared for. for many of us, our paychecks will go down in the new year. here's why. the payroll taxes cut by 2 percentage points over the last two years to give the economy a little nudge. but experts say that tax holiday is coming to an end and the small tax break adds up over the course of a year. the center on budget and policy priority says it is about $100 billion that will come out of our paychecks to go to the government. goldman sachs says that ending the tax hol day would shave .6 percentage points off economic growth next year, which is not predicted to be strong. so let me tell you what the impact would be for you. if you make $50,000 a year that works out about $20 a week more you'll have to pay according to the urban bookings tax policy center. $20 a week doesn't seem like that much, but when you add it up, it will be about a thousand dollars less you will take home next year. >>> hail to the redskins. did you see that game last night? whoa, it was hot. and we are

and the district. >>> other news now, the hunt continues in fort washington, maryland for thieves who broke into a home and shot a person inside it. this happened this morning along lofton road near camelot way. the men demaed some money and jewelry. police say the homeowner was shot during the back during the scuffle. his injuries are not life threatening. >>> after weeks of deadlock, there are some signs the fiscal cliff deal may finally be getting close to getting done. danielle nottingham has more on president obama's latest counteroffer to prevent the end of year tax hikes for the middle class. >> reporter: house speaker john boehner met with fellow republicans this morning to discuss president obama's fiscal cliff proposal. the speaker also began work on a so-called plan b to prevent a tax increase in case he does not reach a deal with the white house before january 1. >> our plan b would protect american taxpayers who make a million dollars or less. >> reporter: the president initially insisted on letting tax cuts expire for households making $250,000 or more, but the new white house

washington. police gave chase to a stolen car that collided with a metrobus at wheeler road and southern avenue. that's near the prince george's county border. our kristin fisher is standing by and she has the latest information. kristin? >> reporter: well, what happened was three people were in a stolen car and they were driving down wheeler road when they were spotted by police. now, they just tried to speed off after police tried to pull them over but the police did not pursue them. still, they kept driving down this road i mean they were zigging and zagging out of traffic. a very dangerous situation. then they started going so fast that they sped out of control and when they tried to turn here on to southern avue they crashed into a metrobus. you see that one passing right there. and it was a head-on crash. so just take a look at what it looked like. i mean, this stolen nissan maxima was completely crushed in the front. the bus fared far better but both the driver and one passenger were taken to the hospital with very minor injuries. as for the three people in the stolen car, they ha
